A Growing High Tech Hub, Colorado Has Much to Offer to Would-be Techies
In 2000 Colorado Governor Bill Owens announced that Colorado was on its way to becoming the nation's top center for technology. This followed information released from the American Electronics Association that Colorado had the highest concentration of technology workers in the entire country. Seven years later Colorado is still one of the best places in the nation to seek work in the technology sector, whether you're interested in a career in information systems, software design, or database management.
Hot Job Growth in Technology
The Colorado state office of Labor and Employment lists technology as one of the fastest growing job segments with some of the highest wages the state has to offer. Across the state of Colorado computer software engineers are experiencing some of the highest job growth, along with systems software specialists and computer systems analysts. These jobs fetch upwards of $50,000 annually for entry-level positions and for those with experience in the job annual salaries approach six figures. In fact, technology and computer jobs account for six of the top fifteen jobs experiencing the highest growth and requiring a higher education in the state of Colorado.
Smarts Alone Won't Get You By
If you're looking for some of the best technology jobs in the country there's no doubt that Colorado has much to offer, but you'll need to be prepared. The minimum requirement for most tech jobs will be a bachelor's degree. If you intend to focus on a career in technology be prepared to further your education. Senior-level positions in information systems management, especially focused fields such as security and risk-analysis, will require a higher degree -- but with higher education comes greater awards. The state of Colorado lists average annual salaries for senior tech positions as $120,000+.
